Western High’s Karla Rodriguez crosses the two-mile mark, en route to a 4th place finish in the Division 3 girls frosh/soph race at the Dana Hills Invitational.

 

Western High’s Jason Cuevas was 9th overall in the Division 3, sophomore boys race, with a time of 17:19.8. Cauahtemoc Baltazar was 47th overall in 18:22.1, while teammate Angel Salvador was a 1/10 of a second behind him. Alexander Rivera also finished strong, with a 59th overall finish in 18:48.6. the Pioneer had only four runners in the event, but all four finished in the top 59 of 181 runners.

Forty five schools were represented in Division 3 alone, 111 schools in all. The meet has become a big draw for top programs.

Jesse Rosas was the top finisher for the Pioneers in the junior division race, with a time of 19:40.3, while Eric Salgado was right behind him with a time of 19:40.9.

Western only had four runners in the race, so they could not earn a team score.

In the girls frosh/soph race, Karla Rodriguez was 4th overall with a time of 18:49.1. The Pioneers took 14th in the team scoring.

Junior Carolina Bautista was the Pioneers’ top finisher in the senior/junior Division 3 event.
