The Avalon girls soccer team went into its holiday break with an 8-0 win over Brethren Christian on Dec. 20, at Brethren Christian in Huntington Beach.

The Lancers improved to 4-4 overall as team co-captain Grace Hobbs scored three goal and had three assists. Two of the team’s other co-captains, Stephanie Martinez and Gisselle Rodriguez each had two goals and Martinez added two assists.

Freshman, Alexis Smith added the final goal. Nalley Pedroza had an assist and goal keeper Briana Peguero had three saves. The defense, led by a strong performance by freshman sweeper Rosy Martinez, kept the Warriors from putting a lot of strong shots on goal. Meanwhile, the Lancer offense peppered the Warrior goalie with 32 shots on goal.
